Student-Athletes Honored at Commencement Exercises

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Eleven student-athletes from the Class of 2009 were accorded graduation honors at Assumption College's Ninety-Second Commencement.

Three student-athletes were graduated summa cum laude including two men's lacrosse players and a captain from the women's track and field team. KYLE CHAFFEE (Stratford, CT/Saint Joseph's), a double Economics/Marketing major, and captain MIKE SJOGREN (Leicester, MA/Saint John's), an Accounting major, were both leaders on the field for Coach MEL MC KEE as the Greyhounds came within one game of qualifying for postseason playoffs for the first time in team history. TRISH DOMINGS (Lexington, MA/Lexington) a captain for Coach GARY JUSSEAUME, for both indoor and outdoor track, earned her degree in Biology/Chemistry.

In addition, three student-athletes were honored at the recent 25th annual Honors Convocation this past week in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. The three were recognized as having earned the highest cumalative grade point average in their area of study.

Track standout TRISHA DOMINGS (Lexington, MA/Lexington) was presented the award in biology. Domings, a double biology/chemistry major is a four-year member of the track teams and captained both the indoor and outdoor teams this past season.

Lacrosse standout KYLE CHAFFEE (Stratford, CT/Saint Joseph's) was presented the awards for both economics and marketing. He is a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international economics honor society and has played lacrosse for four years

Field Hockey standout and captain SANDY GARNEY Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was presented the award for secondary education. Garney is a mathematics major with concentration in secondary education.
