Stonehill defeats Greyhounds field hockey on Senior Night

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Stonehill College defeated Assumption College, 5-2, in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game Wednesday night in the Multi-Sport Stadium.
Stonehill took a 1-0 lead as senior forward LAURA NIMON (Gardiner, ME/Gardiner) scored on a rebound in front with junior forward CLAIRE HOURIHAN (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) assisting with 23:02 left in the first half. The Greyhounds came back to tie the game with 5:12 left. Junior forward APRIL BRUNELLE (Ashland, MA/Ashland) scored a feed from junior forward HILLARY ZYSK (Walpole, MA/Walpole).
With 32:48 left in the second half the Skyhawks took a 2-1 lead as Hourihan scored an unassisted goal. The Greyhounds tied the game with 14:07 left as junior defender MICHELLE PASQUALE (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) scored an unassisted goal.
The Skyhawks however answered with three straight goals to put the game away.
Sophomore midfielder LINDSEY PINKHAM (Skowhegan, ME/Skowhegan) scored off a scramble assisted by senior defender KERRI SULLIVAN (Goffstown, NH/Goffstown) with 10:48 left. Junior forward JACKIE LADINO (North Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) scored the final two goals with 8:11 left (assisted by sophomore midfielder MICHELLE DEASY and with 5:02 left unassisted.
Sophomore goalkeeper COURTNEY OSIER (South Dennis, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth) made just one save for the Skyhawks, while senior goalie JACQUE DULONG (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) made 16 for the Greyhounds.
Stonehill outshot the Greyhounds, 28-4.
The Greyhounds honored their six seniors before the game including midfielder LAUREN MOONEY (Canton, MA/Canton), forward SANDY GARNEY (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill), defender BRITTANY FORD (Worcester, MA/Notre Dame), forward MAURA STRICKLAND (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield), midfielder KARA BECKWITH (Worcester, MA/Doherty) and goalkeeper JACQUE DULONG (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack).
The Greyhounds are now 2-17 on the season and 1-16 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Stonehill moves to 11-7 overall and 11-6 in the conference.
