Six members of field hockey team cited by NFHCA for academic excellence

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Six members of the Assumption College field hockey team have been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their performance in the classroom by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

In addition the Greyhounds were singled out as a team-winner of an academic team award as a program with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Eight other teams in the Northeast-10 Conference were also among the 19 teams singled out nationally.

Those players singled out included: senior midfielder KARA BECKWITH (Worcester, MA/Doherty), senior forward/captain SANDY GARNEY (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill), sophomore goalkeeper DANIELLE LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin), sophomore forward/midfielder ERICA PYZNAR (Enfield, CT/Enrico Fermi), junior forward SARAH RANIERI (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham), and sophomore midfielder GINA TORCOLETTI (Leominster, MA/Saint Bernard's).
