Merrimack downs Greyhounds, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. --- Merrimack College defeated Assumption College, 3-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game here MONDAY.

With the victory the Warriors completed a season sweep of the Greyhounds having won 3-2 in overtime in Worcester September 30.

Merrimack jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as junior forward Kelly PASQUANTONIO (Plainville, MA/King Philip) scored her third of the season off a penalty corner with senior midfielder Siobhan MINIOR (Somerset, MA/Somerset) and senior midfielder Jessica DE LACEY (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) getting the assists at 24:33.

At 32:21 the Warriors scored against as freshman forward Stephanie GLAZIER (Sandown, NH/Timberlane) scored her second goal of the season on a rebound backhander.

DeLacey added a second-half insurance goal at 47:07 from Glazier for her seventh goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Emily ACHILLES (Portsmouth, NH/Portsmouth) made five saves in net for the Warriors, while Greyhounds' senior goalie Jacque DULONG (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) made four saves.

Assumption outshot the Warriors, 11-8 and held a slight 7-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Merrimack is now 5-8 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while the Greyhounds slip to 2-11 and 1-10.

The Greyhounds are at American International Thursday (October 9)-- game to be played at Holyoke High School---at 7 p.m. and return home Friday (October 10) for a match with Franklin Pierce at 7 p.m. in the Multi Sport Stadium.
