American International College defeats Greyhound field hockey, 1-0, in overtime thriller

HOLYOKE, Mass. --- Freshman forward Amanda MC LEAN (Branford, CT/Branford) scored 6:02 into the first overtime period as American International College defeated Assumption College, 1-0, THURSDAY in a Northeast 10 Conference field hockey game played at Holyoke High School.
The Yellow Jackets improved their overall record to 3-11 and 3-10 in the conference. The Greyhounds are now 2-12 overall and and 1-11 in the conference.
Sophomore Nicole SPENCE (Port Jefferson, NY/Vandermuelen) made six stops to record to shutout for the Yellow Jacketts, while senior Jacque DULONG (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) had four saves for Assumption.
Assumption outshot the Yellow Jackets 18-12 overall and 8-3 in the first half. They had a sizable 9-1 advantage in penalty corner opportunities.
The Greyhounds are next in action FRIDAY night as the host Franklin Pierce University in another Northeast-10 Conference game in the Multi-Sport Stadium. Opening faceoff is at 7 p.m. American International travels to Saint Anselm for a conference match Saturday at 1 p.m.
