Greyhound baseball, SNHU tied 3-3 after 13 innings, suspended till April 13

Assumption 3, Southern New Hampshire 3

MANCHESTER, NH – Assumption College and Southern New Hampshire University battled to a 3-3 tie through 13 innings of baseball at Penmen Field before the game was suspended due to darkness WEDNESDAY.

The Penmen and Greyhounds will resume the game Monday, April 13, prior to that day's regularly scheduled game at Penmen Field.

SNHU tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as senior catcher SKYLER BYRD (Milford, NH) drove in the game-tying run with a single to right---his fourth hit of the game.

Assumption jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when senior second baseman MIKE BAILLARGEON (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) doubled to lead off the game and scored on a single by junior centerfielder DEREK MIGRANTS (Ayer, MA/Ayer). The Penmen tied the game in the bottom of the inning an RBI grounder by Byrd.

The Greyhounds took a 2-1 lead in the third on a solo home run by Baillargeon. The Penmen would tie the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Byrd. Assumption made it a 3-2 game in the sixth when Migrants led off the inning with a home run to centerfield.

Southern New Hamsphire freshman third baseman GARRETT JEWELL (Alexandria, NH/Newfound) is currently five-for-six at the plate, while Byrd has four hits and has three RBI.

Baillargeon and Migrants each have three hits for Assumption.

Penmen senior righthander RYAN QUINN (Lebanon, CT/Lyman) went 10 innings and allowed eight hits and three runs while fanning eight. Greyhounds sophomore starter ZACH JACQUES (Worcester, MA/Saint John's) went seven innings.

Assumption is next in action Saturday at Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University at 12 noon. Southern New Hampshire returns to action Thursday at Saint Anselm College at 3:30 p.m.
