New Haven stops baseball, 10-6; Mike Baillargeon has four hits for Greyhounds

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore third baseman TOM ROBILUS (Monroe, CT/Masuk) and senior catcher JIMMY RIVAS (Toa Baja, PR/Monroe) each had three hits as the University of New Haven defeated Assumption College, 10-6, in a Northeast-10 Conference baseball game THURSDAY at Rocheleau Field.
The Greyhounds got four hits from senior captain MIKE BAILLARGEON (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) and three from sophomore shortstop SHAWN FRIGON (Worcester, MA/St. Peter-Marian) to lead their 14-hit attack.
The Chargers scored three first-inning runs and then added five more in the sixth inning to post the win. New Haven is now 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference (both wins coming over the Greyhounds this week), while Assumption falls to 10-9 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Senior RYAN OKON (Bellmore, NY/Mepham) had an BRI single, Rivas an RBI double and the third run scored on a double play as the Chargers led 3-0 after a half inning. Baillargeon double in one run and junior first baseman TIM SCAFIDI (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) singled across another in the bottom of the inning for the Hounds.
A two-run single by freshman third baseman CORY CARR (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) highlighted the five-run sixth inning for New Haven.
The Greyhounds are next in action at Saint Anselm College in another Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader Saturday at 12 noon.
