Charde Floyd gets double-double in women's loss to No. 11 ranked Indiana, PA, 76-65

KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- Junior forward JAHZINGA TRACEY (Des Moines, IA/Hoover) scored 25 points and added 13 rebounds to lead 11th ranked (Women's Division II Bulletin) Indiana, PA past Assumption College, 76-65, in the first-round of the Disney Classic here FRIDAY.


For the Greyhounds senior/forward/captain CHARDE FLOYD (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) led the way with her 24th career double-double, 13 points and 16 rebounds (three short of the tournament record). Three others also reached double figures including senior forward MEGAN URBAN (Portland, ME/Deering) (12 points, 7 rebounds), junior guard/captain BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) (12 points) and freshman forward MOLLY GRIFFITHS (Walpole, MA/Ursuline Academy) (11 points, 8 rebounds).

Floyd inched closer to two individual career goals: she now has 988 points and 823 rebounds in a bid to become the fourth Greyhound to reach both plateaus.

A pair of free throws by sophomore forward HILARY SHOPE (Saltillo, IN/Southern Huntingdon) put Indiana, PA in front, 27-18, with 4:12 left in the first half.

Sophomore guard MAEGAN COOK (Braintree, MA/Braintree) drilled a jumper; Urban converted a TRISH GARDNER (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) steal and assist and Cook hammered a long three-pointer as the Greyhounds cut the gap to 27-25 with 1:47 left.

Junior guard KYLIE MILLER (Gibsonia, IN/Pine-Richland) hit a turnaround jumper for Indiana and ensuing free throw to stem the tide and then freshman guard JULIE LOZON (South Russell, OH/Hathaway Brown) hit a wing jumper, after Gardner made the first of a one-and-one for the Greyhounds, to make it 31-26.

A free throw by sophomore guard KIERSTIN FILLA (Chardon, OH/Chardon) free throw for Indiana and a Floyd layup for the Greyhounds finished the first half.

After Griffiths hit a mid-range jumper and Urban scored on a sky-hook to tie the game at 34-34. Indiana then outscored the Greyhounds, 18-2, over the next seven minutes to move to a 52-36 advantage with 11:49 left.

The Greyhounds, now 0-1, will face Upper Iowa University SATURDAY at 12 noon.
