ASSUMPTION 3, STONEHILL 2
EASTON, Mass. --- Sophomore outside hitter JESSICA HALLER (Meriden, CT/Maloney) had 20 kills and 12 digs to lead Assumption College past Stonehill College, 3-2, in a grueling five-game Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball match here WEDNESDAY at the Merkert Gymnasium. The Greyhounds prevailed 30-26, 30-26, 19-30, 25-30 and 18-16. Assumption is now 12-8 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while the Skyhawks fall to 6-17 and 3-7. Haller had ample support as three other Greyhounds reached double figures in kills including sophomore middle blocker COURTNEY STRATTON (Hudson, NH/Alvirne) (15 kills and a .480 hitting percentage), junior outside hitter JENNA COSTIN (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield) (12 kills) and sophomore captain/opposite SARAH SULLIVAN (Bourne, MA/Bourne) (11 kills, 11 digs). Senior/captain libero LAUREN RASWYCK (Litchfield, NH/Campbell) added to her career record digs with 33 and now has 1856 total. She leads the Northeast-10 Conference in that department. She also finished with six kills, two assists and three services aces. Freshman setter MARILISA STRAND (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) added 51 assists. For Stonehill junior outside hitter KATHERINE MASSON (Acushnet MA/New Bedford) had 18 kills and 24 digs, while freshman libero JUSTINE THOMPSON (Merrimack, NH/Bishop Guertin) had a monster match with 44 digs. The Greyhounds are next in action FRIDAY when they travel to the University of Bridgeport for a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
