Greyhound women's volleyball now in first place in the NE-10; comes from behind to stop S.N.H.U., 3-2September 11, 2007
ASSUMPTION 3, SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE 2
WORCESTER, Mass. --- Assumption College women's volleyball rallied from a 2-0 deficit in games to defeat Northeast-10 Conference rival Southern New Hampshire University, 3-2, TUESDAY night in the Laska Gym. The win is the fifth straight for the Greyhounds who now find themselves in a strange place, FIRST PLACE in the conference standings with a 2-0 mark. The Greyhounds prevailed 23-30, 25-30, 30-28, 30-25 and 15-12 to run their overall record to 6-1. Southern New Hampshire is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Freshman middle blocker AIMEE DRAINVILLE (Rockville, RI/Chariho) was the impetus in the decisive third game with five kills in five attempts, while freshman setter MARILISA STRAND (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) recorded 57 set assists, the fifth-best total in Greyhound program history, for the match. She had 14 in the third game and 15 in the fourth game as the Hounds fought back to deadlock the match. Sophomore JESSICA HALLER (Meriden, CT/Maloney) led the Greyhounds with career-high 19 kills for the match, while sophomore middle blocker COURTNEY STRATTON (Hudson, NH/Mount Alvirnia) and junior outside hitter JENNA COSTIN (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield) each had career high 13 kills. Senior libero/captain LAUREN RASWYCK (Litchfield, NH/Campbell) had another superb outing with 30 digs including a team-leading 13 in the decisive third game. Sophomore opposite SARAH SULLIVAN (Bourne, MA/Bourne) had a career-high 28 digs. The Greyhounds are next in action this weekend on a New York swing. The are at Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University SATURDAY at 1 p.m. and play non-conference foe Molloy College SUNDAY at 12 noon.
