Six Greyhound winter sports athletes earned Northeast-10 Conference all-star awards

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Six winter sports student-athletes have been named Northeast-10 Conference all-stars by the coaches of their respective sports.
All three teams, men and women's basketball and men's ice hockey, advanced to the conference playoffs. Both basketball teams won over 20 games---the only school in the conference with that distinction---and will be participating in their respective N.C.A.A. Division II regional tournaments this weekend.
Women's basketball senior forward/captain CHARDE FLOYD (PICTURED RIGHT) (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy), who averages 9.1 points and leads the Northeast-10 Conference in rebounding (9.6), while also being ranked in steals (72), assists (82), field goal accuracy (.518) and assists/turnover ratio (0.79) was named the conference's Defensive Player-of-the-Year and also earned second-team honors.
Floyd is the fourth Greyhound to reach both 1,000 points (currently 1,212) and 1,000 rebounds (currently 1,056) and merely the second to have four 200-rebound seasons.
Junior guard/captain BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) leads the team, averaging 15.1 points, and also sets the pace with an .814 free throw percentage and 49 three-pointers. She also reached the 1,000-point plateau in the her career (currently 1,032) and is also the career free throw accuracy leader (.810). She earned first-team all-conference honors.
In addition, freshman guard MOLLY GRIFFITHS (Walpole, MA/Ursuline Academy) who was named to the conference all-freshman team, averages 9.4 points with 29 three-pointers.
The women's basketball team, currently 21-9, opens play in the regional tournament Friday at 8 p.m. against conference rival Bentley College. The tournament is being played at Holy Family University in Philadelphia. PA.
Men's basketball senior forward COREY DIETHORN (PICTURED RIGHT) (Pittsburgh, PA/Sewickley) leads the team at 14.5 points-per-game and 8.5 rebounds. He is also the conference pacesetter in blocks (67) and is among the leaders in floor accuracy (.510). He scored his 1,000th point (currently 1,128) and was named to the second all-conference team.
Senior forward/captain GREG TWOMEY (Groton, MA/Groton-Dunstable) is the Hounds' team inspirational leader averaging 12.0 points and 6.2 rebounds. He became a member of the 1,000-point club (currently 1,023) in the final regular-season game at Pace. and earned third-team all-conference honors.
The men's basketball team, currently 22-10, opens play in the regional tournament Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Holy Family University. The tournament continues this weekend at Bentley College in Waltham.
And, ice hockey senior forward/captain JIM TRAHON (PICTURED RIGHT) (Needham, MA/Needham/Salisbury School), was named to the second all-star team. Trahon led the Ice Dogs with 10 goals, 13 assists for 23 points. He finished his career with 40 goals, 48 assists for 88 points.
The Ice Dogs lost in the quarterfinal round of the conference playoffs to Southern New Hampshire.
