ASSUMPTION 4, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 1

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore goalkeeper JAMIE DI GIULIO (Peabody, MA/Tilton School, NH) made 21 saves as Assumption College defeated Western New England, 4-1, in a non-conference hockey game TUESDAY at the Buffone Rink. The Greyhounds, now 5-4, have won their last two starts.

Freshman left wing PATRICK FITZGIBBONS (Holliston, MA/St. John's) opened the scoring for the Ice Dogs just 1:21 into the first period converting passes from sophomore ATTE UOLA (Turku Finland/Holderness) and freshman forward MATT ST. PIERRE (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton).

The Golden Bears came back to tie the game at 1-1 as sophomore defenseman JOE TRIMBOLI (Las Vegas, NV) scored his first goal of the season from freshman forward KYLE DALY (Auburn, MA) and freshman defenseman ALEX GORCZYCA (Columbus, IN).

Greyhounds senior captain JIM TRAHON put the home team in front to stay scoring in a flurry in front of Bears junior goalkeeper KYLE SAGNELLA (East Haven, CT). Sagnella finished with 34 saves including 15 in a busy second period.

While the Greyhounds outshot the Bears 15-5 in the second period they didn't add insurance to their lead until the third period. Senior right wing JOHN ROUTHIER (Saugus, MA/Malden Catholic) scored 41 seconds into the period on the power play---senior forward LUKE MC DONOUGH (Norfolk, MA/Mt. St. Charles) and Trahon assisting.

Freshman forward BRIAN PHILLIPS (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) scored his first career goal at 2:29 from senior forward MIKE RUST (Laguna Nigue, CA/Cushing Academy) and sophomore forward JIM CAPULLI (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton).

The Ice Dogs are next in action SATURDAY when the host Southern New Hampshire University at the Buffone Rink at 7:30 p.m.
