Greyhound Golf Wins Dowling Invitational

RIVERHEAD, NY --- Junior captain ROB YOUNKER (Waltham, MA/Waltham) (PICTURED RIGHT) carded a career-best two-day total of 74-73--147 to finished second overall as Assumption College won the Dowling College Invitational Tournament here MONDAY at the Long Island National Golf Course.

The Greyhounds have now won both tournaments they have played in this fall having prevailed in the Assumption College Shoot Out last week at Petersham, MA Country Club. They won this two-day tournament by seven strokes over second-place Adelphi University (304-308--612).

Junior captain JAMIE FARREA (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth), who finished ninth overall, also had a career-best 79-73--152 with the second-day total (73) his best round for the Greyhounds. Sophomore TYLER CLEARY (Newington, CT/Newington) tied his career-best two-day total with an 80-78--158.

Junior captain TYLER JOHNSON (Holden, MA/Wachusett) (75-78--153) and sophomore DAVID TURNBLOM (Shrewsbury, MA/Saint John's) (75-83--158) also played well.

The Greyhounds are next in action Sunday-Monday, September 23-24 at the ECAC Division II championship hosted by Le Moyne College at Drumlin Golf Course in Syracuse, NY. The Northeast-10 Conference championship is set for September 30-October 1 and hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell at the Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro, MA.
