Zysk late goal, Burke shutout key Greyhound field hockey past Merrimack, 1-0, in season finale

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore forward HILLARY ZYSK (Walpole, MA/Walpole) (PICTURED RIGHT) scored in the 61st minute and goalkeeper KAITLIN BURKE (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) posted the shutout in her final game as Assumption College defeated Merrimack College, 1-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game SUNDAY at the Multi-Sports Stadium.

The Greyhounds opened with Senior Day presentations to captain/defender DANIELLE PERRON (Auburn, MA/Notre Dame), captain/midfielder JENNA LUCE (Conway, MA/Frontier), forward SARAH BULLOCK (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) and midfielder JESSICA KEEFE (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield).

Zysk scored the game-winner at 60:22 as sophomore forward MICHELLE PASQUALE (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) took the original shot which was kicked out by Merrimack goalkeeper AMY LARRABEE (Stratham, NH/Exeter). Bullock collected the rebound and slid a pass over to Zysk who tipped it into the far end of the net.

Zysk finished the season with eight goals and tied for the team lead in that department with Bullock. Sophomore SARAH RANIERI (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) was the team's leading scorer with 7-6--20.

Burke finished with five saves to post her third shutout of the season and eighth of her career. She played 809 minutes this season with a final goals-against average of 1.64 and 79 saves (.806 save percentage). In her career she ended with a 1.83 goals-against average with 219 saves in 2,335 minutes.

The Greyhounds outshot Merrimack, 19-6, and enjoyed a 13-2 advantage in penalty corner situations. The Warriors' Larrabee finished with 13 saves.

The Greyhounds, who were winning their second straight conference game by shutout (defeated A.I.C., 3-0, Thursday), finished their season at 8-11 overall and 6-10 in the conference. Merrimack is 4-15 and 4-12 in the conference.
