Kaitlin Burke spins shutout as Greyhound field hockey blanks NE-10 rival Merrimack, 2-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. --- Senior goalkeeper KAITLIN BURKE (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) recorded her first shutout of the season as the Assumption College field hockey team made two first-half goals standup in a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory over Merrimack College here SATURDAY.

The Greyhounds now 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference opened the scoring at 10:05 of the half as sophomore forward HILLARY ZYSK (Walpole, MA/Walpole) converted a penalty corner situation for her fifth goal of the season. Sophomore forward SARAH RANIERI (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) was credited with the assist on the play.

Ranieri would add an insurance goal for the Greyhounds at 24:52 scoring in a scramble off a second penalty corner situation. Junior forward MAURA STRICKLAND (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) was credited with an assist on the play.

Burke made four saves for the shutout. Merrimack goalkeeper Amy Larrabee made six saves in net.

The Greyhounds owned a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 13-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Assumption is at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bryant University WEDNESDAY.
