ASSUMPTION 3, AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL 0

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Three different goal scorers lead Assumption College past American International College, 3-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey game here THURSDAY at the Multi-Sports Stadium.

Freshman DANIELLE LUONGO (Northboro, MA/Algonquin) and junior JACQUE DULONG (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) split the goalkeeping duties, each working a half, making six total saves to preserve the shutout-- the third of the season for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds are now 7-11 overall and 5-10 in the Northeast-10 Conference. They won both games this season against American International---winning 1-0 in Springfield on September 29. American International is now 3-14 overall and 2-13 in the conference.

Sophomore forward HILLARY ZYSK (Walpole, MA/Walpole) opened the scoring at the 9:40 mark of the first half, scoring her seventh goal of the season, on a feed from senior midfielder JESSICA KEEFE (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield). Keefe made a superb defensive play at midfield with a nifty steal and fed a breaking Zysk who beat the goalie to the left corner with a quick wrist shot.

American International keeper NICOLE SPENCE (8 total saves) made three saves two minutes later as sophomore forwards MICHELLE PASQUALE (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) and APRIL BRUNELLE (Ashland, MA/Ashland) buzzed the net.

Sophomore forward SARAH RANIERI (Bellingham, MA/Bellingham) made it 2-0 at 34:29 on a rebound of her own shot. Ranieri leads the Greyhounds in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.

Senior forward SARAH BULLOCK (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) scored an insurance goal at 41:17, her eighth of the season, on a nice feed from junior midfielder LAUREN MOONEY (Canton, MA/Canton). Mooney's pass put Bullock in position dead center on the goal and her quick wrist shot glanced off the goalie's right shoulder into the upper corner.

DuLong was particularly effective in a three minute stretch in the second half making saves in three straight penalty corner situations, two by Yellow Jacket standout STEPHANIE LASKEY.

The Greyhounds will celebrate SENIOR DAY Sunday in their regular season final as they host Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack College at 1 p.m. in the Multi-Sport Stadium.
