Tyler Johnson (70-75--145) Leads Hounds Golf at Dowling Invitational

RIVERHEAD, NY --- Sophomore TYLER JOHNSON (Holden, MA/Wachusett) shot the second lowest round in Assumption College history and tied the lowest two-day total in a superb all-around performance in the Dowling College September ShootOut at the Long Island National Golf Club here this weekend.

Johnson carded a 70-75--145 for the two-day event leading the Greyhounds to a ninth-place finish overall at 309-310--619. Powerful St. Thomas Aquinas College won the tournament at 289-302--591.

In the long history of the sport at the College only Brian Jerome '72 has had a better round---Jerome fired a 69 at the Nichols College Golf Course (Dudley, MA) on May 12, 1970. Chris Cowell shot a 70 at Canterbury Woods Country Club (Canterbury, NH) on October 4, 2004.

The two-day total of 145 tied the Greyhounds' record held by Jeff Furtado (72-73--145) at the Northeast-10 Conference championships, September 25-26, 2005 at the Sunset Ridge Country Club in Marcellus, NY.
