Freshman KAYLA PARKER (Sanford, ME/Sanford) scored a season- and career-high 15 points as the Assumption College women defeated Pace University, 60 48, in Northeast-10 Conference basketball TUESDAY night at the Laska Gym.

The Greyhounds winning their second straight since the break moved to a 10-point lead at halftime behind their defense---limiting the Setters to a 9-for 27 performance and just 2-of-10 from behind the arc.

Parker tied the game at 10-10 with a rebound and putback and ensuing free throw with 11:18 left in the half. They then went on a 14-4 spurt moving to their biggest lead of the half at 24-12.

Sophomore guard BETHANY PLASSKI (Fall River, MA/Durfee) started the surge with a layin followed by a three-pointer from junior guard BRITT BISHOP (Mendon, MA/Nipmuc). A jumper in the paint by freshman guard LESLIE LUPIEN (Pomfret Center, CT/Woodstock) made it 17-10 before the Setters' LIRAN BUCHRIS drilled a wing jumper.

Junior forward CHARDE FLOYD (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) made a pair of free throws, Parker connected on a nice move to the basket and senior guard ASHLEY LAMBERT (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) made a conventional three-pointer on a lane jumper and free throw to make it 24 12.

Pace's LAURIE MOONEY drilled a long three-pointer to cut the deficit to seven points, 38-31, with 13:46 remaining before the Greyhounds went on a 9-1 surge to build the lea back to 15 points at 47-32.

Parker converted an inside move and Plasski made a three-point play off a courtlength drive and layin and Floyd followed with an inside move. After ASHLEY WALLACE made a free throw for Pace both Floyd and Lupien made one of two free throws to make it 47-32 with 8:29 left.

Floyd chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds, while Plasski added 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. STEPHANIE KLIGELE and HANNAH SHEPPARD each had 11 points to lead the Setters offense.

Assumption is now 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the conference, while Pace is 10-3 and 5-3. The Greyhounds host Northeast-10 Conference rival LeMoyne College Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
