Kowalczyk, O'Connell Earn All-Conference Honors at NE-10 outdoor track championships

NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

hosted by Massachusetts Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. --- Field standouts JOE KOWALCZYK (PG, Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) and MOLLY O'CONNELL (SO, Sandy State, UT/Juan Diego Catholic) took the spotlight for the Assumption College outdoor track team at the Northeast-10 Conference outdoor championships hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Kowalcyzk earned second-team all-conference honors in the discus with his second-best career throw (43.15m/141-07) and then qualified for the New England Invitational with his career-best and first-ever 50-plus shot put throw (50-00.75/15.26m) finishing third in the event. Kowalczyk finished 20th (45-06.25) at the New England Indoor Championships (February 24).

O'Connell earned second-team all-conference honors in the shot put with her career-best throw of 42-00.75 (12.82m). She also qualified for the New England Invitational in the event. She also took a fourth in the discus (34.98m/114-09).

Other scorers for the Greyhounds included senior NICOLE PANKEY (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth) with fourth in the 200-meters (27.33) and career-best 13.08 sixth-place finish in the 100-meter event. Junior BROOKE PERRON (Hubbardston, MA/Quabbin) was third in the 800-meter event with a career-best 2:21.64 time, while junior ROSIE LOTOCKY (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) took a sixth in the hammer (30.44m/99-10) with a career-best toss.

For the men, junior BRIAN CACCAVALE (Hopedale, MA/Hopedale) was sixth in the high jump (1.87m/6-01.50) and freshman CONOR GALLAGHER (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius Prep) was sixth in the long jump (6.54m/21-05.50)---a career-best jump.

The New England Invitational is scheduled for Friday and Saturday (May 11-12) hosted by Dartmouth College.
