Concordia, NY ends Hounds mens tennis season in regional final

EASTON, Mass. --- Top-seeded Concordia, NY lived up to its ranking stopping Assumption College, 5-0, in the N.C.A.A. Division II East Regional final here FRIDAY.

Concordia will now move on to the national championship tournament scheduled for Wednesday-Saturday, May 9-12 at Sanlando Park, Altamonte Springs, FL hosted by Rollins College and the Central Florida Sports Commission.

The No. 4 seeded Greyhounds finished their season at 17-1 overall and had their winning streak snapped at 17 straight. It was the second time in two years that Concordia, now 17-2, had beaten the Hounds in the region final.

This was the Hound's seventh straight regional appearance and the fifth straight year the team had advanced to the championship match.

The exemplary career of senior captain MATT STOPP (Altoona, PA/Altoona) concluded at 61-3 in singles and 66-5 in doubles---both are the top winning percentages in Hounds history. Senior DAVE MARSHALL (Newington, CT/Kingswood-Oxford) finished his career with 45-7 singles record and 54-8 doubles mark.
