NEW HAVEN, Conn. --- The Assumption College women’s swim team led by freshman JEN RYAN (Weston, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas), sophomore JILL CAPADANNO (Dracut, MA/Dracut) and freshman AMANDA GUY (Lakeville, MA/Apponequet) finished sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference championship this weekend hosted by Southern Connecticut. The Owls won the conference title with 988.50 points followed by St. Rose (732.50), Le Moyne (524.00), Bentley (483.00), Pace (387.00), Assumption (306.00), St. Michael’s (271) and Adelphi (164).

FOXBORO, Mass. --- Assumption College held off a valiant Stonehill College comeback effort from three goals down to defeat the Skyhawks, 5-4, in a Northeast-10 Conference game Saturday at the Foxboro Sports Center. The victory clinched second place for the Ice Dogs who will now draw a bye in the first round of the upcoming conference playoffs. Freshman right wing JAIME VONA (West Seneca, NY/Saint Francis) scored two goals, including the game-winner on a delayed penalty with 4:21 remaining in the third period, to lead Ice Dogs.

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman forward RONSON QUICK (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) scored 21 points and junior forward MIKE BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name) added a double-double 14 points, 11 rebounds as Assumption College defeated Pace University, 82-79, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Saturday at the Laska Gym. The duo combined to make six-of-10 three-pointers. Senior forward SAVOY FRAINE (Grenada Hills, CA/Grenada Hills) added 17 points (including 13 in the second half), while senior guard COURTLAND BLUFORD (Ft. Washington, MD/Saint Vincent Pallotti) had 14 points (10 in the second half) and seven rebounds.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. --- Senior BERNARD SCOTT (Saint Petersburg, FL/Admiral Farragut) and sophomore GEOF MOCK (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) finished one-two in the 55-meter final to highlight the Assumption College men’s results in the Smith Invitational here Saturday. Scott finished the final at 6.49, just .02 off his team-record 6.47 set at the Tartan Invitational in 2008. He also ran a 6.49 earlier this season winning the event at the Wesleyan University Invitational. Mock tied his career-best at 6.60 finishing behind Scott and also ran a 23.77 to finish seventh in the 200-meter event.
