Worcester, Mass. (May 6) -- Chelsea Pitvorec has been named as the Assumption College coordinator of athletic communications, as announced by Ken Johnson, Jr., assistant director of athletics and recreation for communications. She will begin her duties on June 1.
“I am very excited to welcome Chelsea to Assumption as our coordinator of athletic communications,” said Johnson. “I think that her work ethic, enthusiasm, creativity and positive attitude will make her a great asset to our office. I also believe that she will be someone that our student-athletes and coaches enjoy working with as we continue to improve our overall communications and marketing efforts.”
Pitvorec comes to Assumption from Central Connecticut State University, where she held the position of graduate intern in the communication and media services office. There she served as the primary media relations contact for seven of the Division I teams including softball, women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field.
Pitvorec graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida in May 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts/Public Relations. She will receive her Master’s degree in Communication from CCSU this May.
Prior to her experience at CCSU, Pitvorec worked in the Ohio University Athletics Media Relations office in Athens, Ohio as a volunteer for two years. She was responsible for various aspects of the Ohio Bobcats website including press releases, game recaps and student-athlete biographies.
Pitvorec has also served as a volunteer for the Escambia County Public Information Office in Pensacola, Florida, as well as a press intern for Comedy Central/Spike TV Press Department in Los Angeles, California.
