MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference recently announced its Commissioner's Honor Roll list for the fall semester and Assumption finished second in the conference with a school-record 310 student-athletes honored for academic achievement.
The NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll (CHR) program recognizes the conference's student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Overall, 3,685 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 2017 semester.
"I am extremely proud to have school-record 310 student-athletes earn a spot on the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll," said Peter Gardula, interim director of athletics. "This continued pursuit of academic excellence is something that is very important to our department and I would like to congratulate each of these student-athletes on this outstanding accomplishment."
Assumption's 310 honorees trailed just Bentley, who let all schools with 389 student-athletes named to the CHR. Merrimack was third with 308. The Hounds had 305 honorees this past spring and then 291 in the fall of 2016.
Overall as an athletic department, the cumulative GPA of all Assumption College student-athletes was over a 3.0 for the seventh straight semester as 19 of the College's 24 teams posted a GPA of a 3.0 or higher during the spring.
In addition to having the second-highest total, Assumption was one of nine NE10 institutions to have at least 60 percent of its student-athletes named to the CHR. The fall 2017 cumulative GPA of all Assumption teams was 3.09 and 11 different teams had a team GPA of over 3.2.
