PATRICK T. DUNN '89 Golf
One of two golfers in Hounds' history to participate in the N.C.A.A. Division II National Tournament, PAT DUNN is a former three-time Most Valuable Player and two-time captain. He was also the first golfer in Hounds' history to play as an individual in the E.C.A.C. Championship (Hershey, PA). Dunn made an immediate impact as a freshman teaming with fellow Hall of Famer Frank Vana ?86 to lead the team to a best-ever 10-2 record and a fourth place finish in the prestigious New England Invitational and a second-place finishes in the Massachusetts Invitational and Northeast-8 Conference championship. His medal averages as a freshman were 80.3 in the fall and 81.6 in the spring . . . still the record for a first-year performer in Hounds' history. He won the Paul Johnson Cup as a junior in 1988 as the low medalist in the Worcester Collegiate Championship carding an 83 at Pleasant Valley Country Club as the team finished second. His medal average that season was 77.6 including a 73 in the New England spring invitational. In the fall he carded his lowest round, a one over 71 at New Seabury Country Club en route to an 11th place individual finish (71-78-149). His senior year was packed with superlatives as he played to medal averages of 78.7 (11 fall matches) and 78.5 (seven spring matches). His 75 was third in the Northeast-8 Conference championship and his 79-80-159 was 13th of 212 participants at the New Englands. He won the Johnson Cup for a second time with an 80, again at Pleasant Valley C.C., and carded a 82-79-161 as the lone Hound entry at the E.C.A.C. championship in Hershey, PA. He finished at the N.C.A.A. nationals in Missouri. After graduation he spent three years as an assistant professional at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, MA. |
