MICHELLE A. DALEY '99

Field Hockey, Softball

One of the premier two-sport student-athletes in the history of the College, MICHELLE DALEY set a standard of excellence playing the "most demanding" positions on the field---as the premier goalkeeper of her time in field hockey and as an all-American catcher in softball.

She was honored as the premier female senior student-athlete with the Rev. Armand Desautels, A.A. Memorial Award in 1999 and earned the Rev. Alfred R. Berthiaume, A.A. Memorial Award for going "above and beyond" in 1997 as a sophomore.

Daley was a two-sport all-conference standout in both field hockey (Coach Debbie Draper) and softball (Coaches Dan Santerre and Ralph DeLucia) and captained both sports as a senior

She was named the Northeast-10 field hockey Goalkeeper of-the-Year and a first team all-star leading the Greyhounds to the conference championship game for the second straight year in 1998. In her career the field hockey team posted a 43-18 overall mark en route to three Northeast-10 playoff berths, an ECAC tournament final and three national rankings. She still holds the career mark for goals-against average (1.10), shutouts (19) and won-loss percentage (40-15).

In softball, she was named a Northeast-10 Conference all-star three times and earned third-team all-America honors in 1998 by the National Fast Pitch Softball Coaches Association. She finished with a career .331 batting average with 161 hits (12th career, most by a catcher) and fashioned a .988 fielding percentage holding Hounds' catcher records for put outs (722), assists (79) and total chances (811). She caught the first perfect game in Hound' history---Krissy Hall vs. Waynesburg, PA (1998)

She was graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and carried a 3.30 grade point average. She was a high school standout at Burncoat High in Worcester and was inducted into its athletics Hall of Fame last year.

She currently resides in Fitchburg, MA and is a manager for the Jamie Oil Co., Framingham, MA and the successful softball coach at Fitchburg State (career mark of 93-74 since 2001).
