JULIE A. HANEWICH '92

Softball

One of the truly outstanding performers in Greyhounds' softball history, JULIE HANEWICH capped a brilliant career being named the 1992 Northeast-10 and E.C.A.C. North Player-of-the-Year.

She completed an incredible season leading the Greyhounds to their fourth successive 30-win season (31-16) and a second-place finish in the conference. Her .523 average (69 hits in 132 at bats) was third nationally and helped the team lead the nation (.370) in batting.

She was also the team's top pitcher fashioning a 15-9 overall won-loss mark with a stingy 1.04 earned run average. She completed 21 games allowing just 23 earned runs in 155 innings. Her career mark of 62-31 and 20 shutouts was the best in Greyhounds' history until this past season. She had six shutouts in 1992 and authored the program's first perfect game on the team's southern trip in Ocoee, FL against Lake Superior State on March 13, 1992.

She left the program as the career record holder in doubles (36), games pitched (103), starts (92), complete games (75) innings (613), games won (62) and strikeouts (238) for Coaches Brent Vigness and Dan Santerre.

Earlier in her career she had become the College's first 20-game winner (22 8) in 1990 and followed with a 19-9 mark in 1991. She earned first-team Northeast-10 honors (1992, 1990) and second-team in 1991. She was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1992.

She is married to Daniel McDonald and currently resides in Taunton, MA. She is employed by the law office of Peter F. Murphy in N. Attleboro, MA as a legal aide and administrative assistant.
