J.P. BISCEGLIA '84

John (J.P.) Bisceglia '84 was one of the premier offensive linemen of his day with the Assumption College football program for Hall of Fame Coaches Paul Cantiani '73 and Bernie Gaughan.
A two-time all-American tackle as selected by the coaches of the National Collegiate Football Association and Lineman-of-the-Year in 1982 for the New England Collegiate Football Conference. In addition, he was also a three-time first team selection in the conference (1981, '82, '83).
Bisceglia was part of teams that included three of the top players in Greyhound football history in Hall of Famers Russ Guertin '85, Brian Kelly '83 and Jim Grealis '82.
The team also enjoyed its two finest seasons in 1981 and 1982 finishing a combined 15-4-1 over that span---8-3 in 1981 as a N.C.F.A. national semifinalist and 7-1-1 in 1982 under Cantiani. The team won its first seven games in 1981 and then opened the 1982 season with a tie and seven straight wins.
The 1982 Greyhounds defeated Fairfield (21-0) in the quarterfinals of the National Collegiate Football Association playoffs before bowing at national powerhouse Saint John Fisher in the semifinals.
He captained the Greyhounds to a 4-5 mark under Gaughan in 1983.
J.P. graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's in biology and received his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1988. He is the son of Notre Dame All-American, Pascale "Patsy" Bisceglia and resides in Shrewsbury, MA with his wife Tracey and their three children, Bridgett, John and Brianna. In addition to coaching Pop Warner Football, Little League and Junior League Baseball, J.P. enjoys hunting and fishing.
He is President and Partner at the University Dental Group, P.C. in Worcester, MA which specializes in a broad range of dental procedures. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Worcester District Dental Society.
