Baseball

In a long line of outstanding second baseman who have played for the Greyhounds, JACK LEPORE is the only baseball player to be named all-America both by the coaches for his on-field exploits and by CoSIDA as an academian. He was graduated magna cum laude in Accounting.

Lepore's offensive credentials speak for themselves . . . a .384 career hitter (currently 11th and fourth at his career's conclusion). He was third in career hits (137), runs (97), doubles (25), first in singles (101) at the conclusion of his career for Coach Barry Glinski. He was also among the premier defensive players in Hounds' history.

He was named Northeast-10 second-team all-star at third base as a freshman batting .313 . . . he played centerfield as a sophomore (batting .342) and was named a first-team all-star as a junior and senior back at his natural position at second base. He also played in the New England all-star game at Fenway Park and earned all-District and all-New England status in his last two years.

He led the Hounds to the Northeast-10 playoff title as a senior in 1987 and capped his career on the mound . . . winning a 9-4 decision over Anna Maria in relief. He also homered as the Hounds beat Worcester State (April 21, 1987) to present Glinski with his 100th victory as coach.

As a senior he earned all the awards . . . first-team all-Northeast-10, first-team all-E.C.A.C., first-team all-New England, New England All-Star game, third-team coaches all-America and first-team academic all-America (second straight year). He won the William Cating Memorial Award for coachability (1986) and was team 1987 Most Valuable Player.

He is married to the former Janet Carelli ‘87 and the couple resides in Holden, MA with a son Nick and daughter Carly. He is a Vice-President for Finance and Administration at Atlas Distributing, Auburn, MA.
