GEORGE W. HOGAN JR. '83

Golf

One of the outstanding golfers in the history of the College, GEORGE HOGAN is one of a elite group of four-time Most Valuable Players for Coach Andrew Laska.

He came to Assumption College after starring as a three-sport athlete (basketball, baseball and football) at Old Orchard Beach, ME High School, scoring 52 points in his final basketball game.

He was the leading player for his four years with the Greyhounds earning team low medal average honors in each season and his senior medal average of 74.8 is the best in team history. He also owns the low medal round for an Assumption College golfer (or perhaps any collegiate golfer) on the then-home course at Pleasant Valley Country Club (Sutton, MA) when he carded a 72 as the Greyhounds defeated Bentley and Nichols in 1983.

He also finished in the top five three times in the Northeast-8 Conference championship, earning all-conference first-team honors. He was accorded all-New England honors in each of his two final years with the team. He was also won the Tri-City Area Open (Portland, ME) six straight times (1981-86) and twice finished third in the Maine State Amateur.

He was graduated in May 1983 with a bachelor of arts in mathematics and psychology. He later completed his MBA requirements at Boston University having done much of the work at the College's Nurembourg, Germany campus.
