EILEEN B. DONAHUE '82

Field Hockey

One of the truly outstanding field hockey players in Greyhound history, EILEEN DONAHUE'S scoring exploits have never been duplicated at the College. While her career mark for points (88) was broken just last year, the average per game of 1.60 points is still untouched. She is still the career leader in goals (35), in just 55 games, and is ninth in assists (18).

Donahue, along with linemate and fellow Hall of Famer Sheila Burns ?81, led the Greyhounds to their first winning seasons. After posting a 5-6-4 record under Rita Castagna in 1978, the duo led the team to records of 6-4-5 and 11-4-2 under Coach Kathy Gibbons and then 6-5-3 under Coach Joyce LaBonte in 1981. The 1980 team lost in the final of the MAIAW State Tournament, its only defeat in a 14 game stretch in which they posted an 11-1-3 record.

She was the first player in Greyhounds history to score three goals in a game against Wheaton and the first to do it twice, against Barrington. She holds the most games scored (10) in a single season. She scored 12 goals in 17 games in 1980 and followed with an amazing 11 goals in just 13 games in 1981. She was the team Most Valuable Player in both 1980 and 1981.

She is a teacher/coach at Auburn, MA High School. She resides in Spencer,MA.
