CHARDE FLOYD, KAYLA PARKER EARN NE10 HONORS

WORCESTER, Mass. --- On the heels of the most successful Southern trip since 1990, the Assumption College baseball team under the direction of second-year head coach GEORGE REIDY is excited as they begin their Northern portion of the schedule this weekend with a three-game set with Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill College.

The Greyhounds posted eight wins, tying their all-time Southern record and won five consecutive games for the first time since 2000. Statistically, a .306 team batting average and a .982 fielding percentage are among the best ever by the team on its spring trip. The 1990 team, which finished 8-3 at Cocoa Beach, Florida, finished its season at 31-12.

FLOYD, PARKER EARN NORTHEAST-10 HONORS

Assumption College junior captain/forward CHARDE FLOYD (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference second-team all stars as selected by the conference coaches.

Floyd earned Northeast-10 Conference weekly honor status an amazing 10 times this past season, while leading the Greyhounds into the Northeast-10 Conference playoff second round. She was the conference Freshman-of-the-Year in 2004-05 and earned first-team honors as a sophomore.

She averaged 12.2 points-per-game (second on the team and 14th in the NE-10) and team-leading 9.8 rebounds (second in the NE-10) and 81 steals (second in the NE-10). She also shot 126-for-216 from the floor (.583)---leading the conference.

She scored a career-best 25 points in a win over Saint Rose and had three other 20-point performances. She finished with 19 double-figure scoring games (52 career) and 14 double-figure rebound games (39 career).

In her career, she is on the verge of becoming the fourth Greyhound to score 1,000 points with 1,000 rebounds. She currently has 975 points and 807 rebounds (currently ranked third). She is also the first player in Hounds history to attempt 150 or more free throws in a season three times. She is one of seven to make over 300 (313-567) in a career and one of only four to attempt 500.

Freshman forward KAYLA PARKER (Sanford, ME/Sanford) earned a spot on the conference all-freshman team. She was named to the weekly honor roll three times and was the Freshman-of-the-Week once.

Parker averaged 10.5 points and 4.1 rebounds and shot .517 from the floor (107-for-207). Her best outing came against Merrimack with 22 points and 13 rebounds in a Greyhound victory. She ended with 15 double-figure scoring games, including 11 of her final 12 games.

The Greyhounds finished the season with a 13-16 overall record earning a position in the conference playoffs for the 11th straight year under head coach KERRY PHAYRE.

"We accomplished exactly what we set out to do," said Reidy. "We now have an attitude, an attitude that we can indeed win baseball games no matter what the circumstances. We came-from-behind in several games and did it with timely hitting, solid defense and pitching- -I believe that our pitching is as deep as it has ever been."
