November 21, 2007, Number 13 Women's basketball wins TWO in home
tournament; Raswyck earned third-team all-conference honors in 2007. The Greyhounds' career leader with 1,930 digs, she led the Greyhounds to a 13-11 overall record, the first winning season since the 2000 team finished 14-13. The team under the direction of first-year Coach GARY PATCH finished one game shy of qualifying for the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs. The Greyhounds won the Worcester City Championship for the ninth time and extended their win streak to 16 straight in the tournament. This past season Raswyck made 24 starts in 24 matches averaging 6.21 digs which led the conference. She set a team record with 53 digs in a 3-2 win over Saint Anselm (9/4/07) and earned conference Libero-of-the-Week three times and earned weekly honor roll plaudits twice. She also owns the second- and third-best match totals with 46 against Saint Michael's (10-14-06) and 45 against Felician, NJ (9-1-07). She was named to the all-tournament team of the Assumption College Tip Off Tournament and to the second-team conference all-academic team. She led the team in digs as a freshman in 2004 (335), finished third in 2005 (381) and led the team and the Northeast-10 Conference with 649 and 565 the past two seasons. Those season totals are the second- and third-best in Hounds' history.
Freshman running back HERBERT
WOODARD (Salem, NJ/Salem), the conference's second-leading rusher with 966
yards and 10 touchdowns earned co-Freshman-of-the-Year honors with American
International College quarterback Rob Parent.
In addition senior offensive tackle MATT CERINS (Manchester, CT/East Catholic) and
senior defensive end JARED KELLY (Canton, MA/Xaverian) earned first-team all-ECAC
Division II honors and Woodard was named the Freshman-of-the-Year.
In 11 games this past season Woodard rushed 179 times for 966 yards to lead the Greyhounds
rushing game. He also had nine receptions for 42 yards and finished the season with 1,016 yards
of all-purpose yards.
Woodard's best effort earned him the Boston Globe Golden Helmet, only the third Greyhound
ever to win the award. Also earning the Football Gazette Division II National Player of the Week
honors. He rushed for a career- and season-high 277 yards on 21 carries and scored
a team-record five touchdowns to lead his team to a record-setting 71-21 win at Saint Anselm. He
also rushed for 100 or more yards at Pace (152 yards), vs. Merrimack (129 yards) and vs. Bryant
(126 yards).
He was also named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman-of-the-Year and the Worcester
Area Freshman-of-the-Year.
He is a projected Human Services major.

while four Greyhounds were named to the second-team including: sophomore wide
receiver DAVID CANNEY (Templeton, MA/Narragansett), senior guard MIKE
OTTERBEIN (Manchester, CT/Manchester), sophomore middle linebacker DUSTIN
ZITZMANN (Pinellas Park, FL/Dixie Hollins) and junior safety CHRIS MARTINO
(Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South). Named to the first-team were freshman running back HERB WOODARD (Salem, NJ/Salem), sophomore wide receiver DAVID CANNEY (Templeton, MA/Narragansett) (also named first-team at kickoff specialist), senior tackle MATT CERINS (Manchester, CT/East Catholic), senior guard MIKE OTTERBEIN (Manchester, CT/Manchester), senior defensive end JARED KELLY (Canton, MA/Xaverian), sophomore middle linebacker DUSTIN ZITZMANN (Pinellas Park, FL/Dixie Hollins) and junior safety CHRIS MARTINO (Lindcroft, NJ/Middletown South). Earning second-team honors were sophomore cornerback BERNARD SCOTT (St. Petersburg, FL/Admiral Farragut), senior defensive end JOSH KELLY (Canton, MA/Xaverian), senior placekicker JON EISELE (Lower Gwynedd, PA/Vermont Academy), senior center MIKE SENELLA (Simi Valley, CA/Bishop Alemany) and senior wide receiver JAKE BEERS (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury).

(Bowdoin '97) McDonough's goal came on assists from senior left wing JOHN ROUTHIER (Saugus, MA/Malden Catholic/Winchendon School) and senior center MATT PAGET (Hingham, MA/Hingham). Five different players scored for the Ice Dogs, capped off by McDonough's game-winner in the final minute. Routhier scored the Ice Dogs' first goal and assisted on its final tally for two points, while freshman left wing PATRICK FITZGIBBONS (Holliston, MA/St. John's) added two assists. Franklin Pierce forward Coursen Schneider led all scorers with a game-high two goals. The Ravens came out strong in the first period as Schneider scored just 54 seconds into the game. Assumption came back to tie the game at 1-1 thanks to a fortunate bounce off the glass at the 9:57 mark. Senior left wing/captain JIM TRAHON (Needham, MA/Needham/Salisbury School) skated down the right side and fired a shot high and wide of the net. The puck came off-the-glass directly to Routhier at the left post, who fired into the open net. The teams then traded goals before the end of the first period, Joe Fields put the Ravens in front with his third goal of the season at 13:49 however freshman left wing MATT ST. PIERRE (Alexandra, VA/Bishop Ireton/Hebron Academy) scored his first career goal with just 26 seconds left in the period to tie it at 2-2. Fitzgibbons and freshman right wing MIKE DWYER (Somerville, MA/Worcester Academy) assisted. Franklin Pierce the power play to take a 4-2 lead midway through the second period on goals by Schneider and Jeff Kasper. Assumption then scored the final three goals of the game to escape with the win. Sophomore defenseman PAT KEENAN (Candia, NH/Berwick Academy) got the Ice Dogs back to within one later in the second period scoring off his own rebound. Then senior center MIKE RUST (Laguna Niguel, CA/Cushing Academy) rushed the net from the left and swept the puck under the FPU goalie to tie the game, 4-4, with 7:32 left. Franklin Pierce held a
32-22 edge in shots on goal, including an 11-5 edge in the final period. Sophomore
goalkeeper JAMIE DIGIULIO (Peabody, MA/Tilton, NH School) turned away
28 shots to earn his first win of the season. COACH: Serge DEBARI

(Providence '83) BETHANY PLASSKI (Jr.,
G, Fall River, MA/Durfee): averaged 19.0 points and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week.
Scored a team-high 25 points (four-for-nine three pointers, seven-for-eight
free throws), including 16 points in the second half, two assists, and two steals
in a victory over Molloy. Had a team-high 13 points and three steals in a win
over Concordia. Named to the Courtyard by Marriott Classic all-tournament team. Molloy moved to a 29-26 halftime lead and increased their advantage to nine points, 40-31, as senior guard Randi Bender made a layup off a feed from sophomore forward Kasia Pietrazak. The Greyhounds were down 57-54 as sophomore guard Kymira Woodberry made a layup with 7:51 left. A 15-0 run spearheaded by Plasski --- 11 points including three successive three-pointers --- put the Greyhounds in command, 69 57, with 3:22 left. Plasski buried a top-of-the-circle three to tie the game on a feed from freshman guard MOLLY GRIFFITHS (Walpole, MA/Ursuline) and hit one from the right wing and a third from the left corner, both on assists from junior point TRICIE GARDNER (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth, as the Greyhounds moved in front 63-57 with 5:39 remaining. Griffith then hit a baseline jumper, Parker made two free throws and Plasski finished the run with a pair of free throws. Playing well in a support role for the Greyhounds was senior forward/captain CHARDE FLOYD (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) with a double-double (her 26th career double-double and third this season), 10 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high seven steals and four assists. Gardner finished with five assists, three steals in a foul-shortened 22 minute stint. Courtyard Classic:
Assumption 76, Molloy 61 Plasski scored 25 points as the Greyhounds defeated Molloy, 76-61, Friday and Parker added a career-high 23 were both named to the all-tournament team as selected by the coaches. After sophomore guard Brittany Binnie made two free throws with 11:00 left in the first half to make it 14-11 Greyhounds, Assumption ran off a 19-6 spurt to end the half. Parker started with a free throw and fastbreak layup on a feed from sophomore guard MAEGAN COOK (Braintree, MA/Braintree). Junior point TRICIE GARDNER (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) converted another fastbreak with an assist from senior guard/captain BRITT BISHOP (Mendon, MA/Nipmuc) and senior forward/captain CHARDE FLOYD (Worcester, MA/Worcester Academy) converted and offensive rebound to make it 21-11. Guard Bonnie DeFina made two free throws and center Shari Cordero made a fastbreak kayup to interrupt the flurry for Concordia. Freshman guard MOLLY GRIFFITHS (Walpole, MA/Ursuline Academy) then made a long three-pointer to make it 25-15. After Cordero made a wing jumper and forward Dana Rommel a baseline jumper, the Greyhounds ran the last nine points of the half. Plasski made the second of a two-shot foul, Parker made four free throws, senior center MEGAN URBAN (Portland, ME/Deering) scored off her own offensive rebound and senior forward SARA CZARNECKI (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) added a free throw with two seconds left to make it 34-19.
