In the 1975 club season, the Greyhounds won their final five games including the postseason Heritage Bowl over Niagara (27-7). Eisele kicked a game winning 49-yard field goal against LaSalle two weeks ago. Freshman running back HERB WOODARD (Salem, NJ/Salem) scored on a four-yard run in the third period to tie the game and rushed 30 times for 152 yards. He finished the season with 179 rushes for 966 yards rushing as the conference's second-leading rusher and 1,016 yards of all-purpose offense.
MATYSIAK, BLAISDELL lead Hounds' soccer all-stars On the men's side freshman forward STEPHEN BLAISDELL (Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman-of-the-Year and a second-team all-star. Sophomore defender KELLEY DEWALT (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) (1 goal, 2 points) of the women's team and junior forward/captain PAUL MURPHY (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug) (9 goals, 1 assist, 19 points) and sophomore defender/captain AUSTIN PRETE (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) (3 goals, 6 points) of the men's team all earned third-team honors. LAUREN RASWYCK NAMED NE-10 Libero-of-the-Year Senior women's volleyball captain LAUREN RASWYCK (Litchfield, NH/Campbell) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Libero-of-the-Year by the coaches. She also earned second-team all-conference honors. She earned third-team all-conference honors in 2007. The Greyhounds' career leader with 1,930 digs, she led the Greyhounds to a 13 11 overall record, the first winning season since the 2000 team finished 14-13. The team under the direction of first-year Coach GARY PATCH finished one game shy of qualifying for the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs. The Greyhounds won the Worcester City Championship for the ninth time and extended their win streak to 16 straight in the tournament. This past season Raswyck made 24 starts in 24 matches averaging 6.21 digs which led the conference. She set a team record with 53 digs in a 3-2 win over Saint Anselm (9/4/07) and earned conference Libero-of-the-Week three times and earned weekly honor roll plaudits twice. She also owns the second- and third-best match totals with 46 against Saint Michael's (10-14-06) and 45 against Felician, NJ (9-1-07). She was named to the all-tournament team of the Assumption College Tip Off Tournament and to the second-team conference all-academic team. She led the team in digs as a freshman in 2004 (335), finished third in 2005 (381) and led the team and the Northeast-10 Conference with 649 and 565 the past two seasons. Those season totals are the second- and third-best in Hounds' history. MORE FOOTBALL: Also, sophomore wide receiver DAVID CANNEY (Templeton, MA/Narragansett) (4 rec., 24 yards) set the Hounds] single-season mark with 62 receptions and finished with a team-record 870 yards---eclipsing the team record, set during the club years, by John McKeon in 1976 (854). In addition, senior wide receiver JAKE BEERS (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) (2 rec., 50 yards) became the second with two 50-reception seasons and the first with back-to-back seasons with 50. Defensively, sophomore linebacker DUSTIN ZITZMANN (Pinellas Park, FL/Dixie Hollins) who became the first Greyhound with over 200 tackles (81-136- 217) and the first with 100 or more as both a freshman (104) and a sophomore (113). Senior running back Ruben Pagan rushed three times for 13 yards and senior quarterback Adam Headley completed passes for 14 yards to sophomore tight end Adam Kulak and 13 yards to freshman wide receiver Marcus Haas for the score. Sophomore placekicker Josh Trumper added the conversion for a 7-0 lead. The Greyhounds would then drive on the next possession 51 yards in 11 plays for the halftime equalizer. After Canney returned the kickoff to near midfield, Woodard did the bulk-of the-work in moving the ball downfield---rushing six times for 29 yards including the last four off-tackle for the score on the final play of the half. A 12-yard pass from junior quarterback TAYLOR HUMPHREY (Lafayette, CA/Miramonte) to Beers picked up a crucial first down on a fourth-and-seven play. Eisele's conversion tied it 7-7. In the waning moments of the third period and early fourth period the Greyhounds drove 60 yards in 12 plays to set up the game-deciding field goal. Again, Woodard was a workhorse with six carries for 44 yards and three first downs. Pace had two more opportunities . . . the first snuffed as Martino deflected a pass from Headley to Haas inside the five-yard line as senior end JOSH KELLY (Canton, MA/Xaverian) and Zitzmann applied pressure to the quarterback and the second as sophomore cornerback BERNARD SCOTT (St. Petersburg, FL/Admiral Farragut) interrupted another Headley-to-Haas aerial.
